Position Summary:
The Team Leader of the Inpatient Unit is responsible for handling their own case load in addition to assisting the Supervisor with the coordination of workflow, work assignments and intercept daily work related problems. Will serve as a direct resource for nurses and SNF service representatives on day to day issues. The Team Leader will act as a technical resource to the Unit, and Quality Control including outcomes. Will perform Quality checks on staff reviews and report outcomes to the supervisor for action. Acts as a liaison between nursing staff, Medical Directors and providers, especially in confrontational situations. The Team Leader will be involved in staff training and process improvement execution as well as the identification of problems. Must possess the ability to problem solve and appropriately refer to the Supervisor/ Manager/ Associate Director when necessary. The Team Leader will be knowledgeable of and be able to interpret all provider contracts, policies and procedures as well as participate on various committees as required. Assists Supervisor/ Manager/ Associate Director in the preparation of reports, performs oversight of NYS and NCQA regulations, oversee process compliance and other functions as assigned.

Requirements:

  • RN with NYS license required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of varied clinical experience (including ER or ICU). Working knowledge of managed care concepts and practices, and standard utilization review techniques and protocols preferred.
  • Excellent capabilities and computer knowledge; Familiarity with ICD-9, CPT, HCPCS, RUGs coding. Proven success with interacting with providers on delicate matters of medical necessity and service appropriateness;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; organizational skills; ability to interpret and apply established policy and procedure. Ability to be innovative, take initiative an exercise independent judgment.
