unlocking Medicare couple

Medicare has become an essential resource for many residents seeking reliable health care. For those of you on Medicare, there is a simple way to enhance your coverage. Medicare Advantage, also known as Medicare Part C, is a health insurance plan offered by private companies like MVP Health Care that can take your Medicare to another level. Unlike traditional, government-provided Medicare, which includes a broad range of services, Medicare Advantage packages additional, comprehensive benefits into a single plan.

What is Medicare Advantage?

At MVP Health Care, we offer Medicare Advantage plans that combine Original Medicare (Parts A and B) with other benefits such as dental, vision, and prescription drug coverage. A growing number of people are choosing Medicare Advantage because it’s flexible, with options like HMO-POS and PPOs that offer tailored care. This flexibility is especially valuable in rural and suburban areas, where coordinated care can be a game-changer, increasing access to care from anywhere. Plus, the inclusion of benefits such as dental, vision, hearing, and wellness programs resonates with many New Yorkers. For those with limited access to pharmacies, Part D prescription drug coverage offers vital convenience and peace of mind.

What Does Medicare Advantage Cover?

Medicare Advantage plans cover all the services included in Original Medicare, such as hospital care, doctor visits, and outpatient services. On top of this, Medicare Advantage often provides:

  • Vision and Dental Coverage: Including regular exams, cleanings, and eyewear.
  • Prescription Drug Coverage: Many plans cover medications under Part D.
  • Wellness Programs: Offering resources and support to help maintain health.

The best part? Medicare-eligible New Yorkers can explore Medicare Advantage plan options with no premium, making them a cost-effective choice for comprehensive care.

Choosing the Right Medicare Advantage Plan

With so many plans available, choosing one that aligns with your health care needs and financial situation is essential. Here are some tips:

  • Understand Your Health Needs: Determine which additional benefits, such as dental or vision coverage, are important.
  • Compare Costs: Review the plan's premiums, deductibles, and out-of-pocket expenses to ensure it aligns with your budget.
  • Check Provider Networks: Make sure your preferred doctors and hospitals are included in the plan’s network.

Local health insurers are on the ground and better understand their customers' needs. As a community-centric organization, MVP Health Care is engrained in the community, regularly surveying its customers to know what benefits are most important, and designing plans based on those needs. The benefits of choosing a local health care plan are boundless, starting with tailored services, increased access to care and expert local physicians.

The Application Process

To enroll in Medicare Advantage, you must have Medicare Parts A and B and live in the plan’s service area. You can enroll in a Medicare Advantage plan during the Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) from October 15 to December 7. Any changes made during this time will take effect on January 1 of the following year. If you're dissatisfied with your new plan or missed the AEP, Open Enrollment from January 1 through March 31 offers an opportunity to make changes or sign up for a plan.
