In early 2020,

MVP will launch a comprehensive network of behavioral health providers and bring behavioral health management in-house.

  • Better access to care.

  • More personalized service & support.

  • Seamless coordination between your medical & behavioral health care.

MVP’s new integrated model of care is focused on treating medical and behavioral health as equal components of a person’s overall well-being.

  • 43.8Million adults experience a mental illness in any given year1.

  • 68% of adults with a behavioral health condition also have a medical condition2.

  • 20% of teens ages 13-18 have a mental health condition3.

  • What is behavioral health?

Behavioral health refers to mental health and substance use. If you require care for a mental health or substance use issue, you would see a behavioral health specialist. There are several types of specialists that fall into these categories.

Mental health providers include: psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, psychiatric nurse practitioners, and licensed mental health counselors.

Substance use disorder providers include: addictionologists, and alcoholism and substance use counselors.

  • How will this change affect me?

Member benefits will not be impacted in 2019.

Beginning January 1, 2020, pending regulatory approval, your care for behavioral health will be fully managed by MVP. If you need a mental health or substance use provider, you will be able to find one in MVP’s network the same way you would find a medical doctor.

MVP is working to build an extensive network of health providers. We hope to include all providers from the current network. But after January 1, 2020, any members currently seeing a mental health or substance use provider should confirm that provider’s participation in MVP’s new network.

  • How can I find a behavioral health provider today?

If you currently need a mental health or substance use provider, you can use our Find a Doctor tool to find providers in the Beacon Health Options network. Please note, many providers can also be found using our find a facility tool.

Beginning January 1, 2020, pending regulatory approval, you will be able to find a provider in MVP’s new network the same way.
