Learn about Free or Low-Cost Health Insurance Options
MVP’s Medicaid, Essential Plan, and Harmonious Plan offer more health plan choices for individuals and families. Our high quality, affordable health coverage options include:
Medicaid Managed Care is a health insurance program for low-income children and adults. Eligibility is based on income and family size, as well as citizenship and immigration status. Medicaid is also available to people of any age who are blind or disabled. There are no monthly premiums for Medicaid.
MVP Harmonious Health Care Plan is a managed care product called a Health and Recovery Plan (HARP) that combines physical health, mental health, and substance use services in an integrated way, helping members find housing, live independently, get an education, find a job, manage stress, and more. Eligibility for HARP services is determined by New York Sate.
Health Home Services Program
Health Home services are optional, free services that helps HARP members coordinate their physical, mental, and social health care. It is a group of medical/behavioral health care providers and community-based service professionals working together to ensure our members are getting care that supports all aspects of their health.
Child Health Plus is a health plan for kids that don’t qualify for Medicaid. Almost all children, under age 19, qualify for health coverage with Child Health Plus regardless of family income or immigration status. Depending on income, a small monthly premium may be all that is needed to enroll a child.
Essential Plan is available to low- and moderate-income New York State residents who do not qualify for Medicaid Managed Care or Child Health Plus. The Essential Plan costs much less than other health plans, but still offers the same essential benefits. Depending on your income, you pay a monthly member premium of $0 or $20.
More Low-Cost Plan Options
If you do not qualify for a Medicaid Health Plan, you can enroll year round on the NY State of Health™ (NYSOH) Marketplace. Over 80% of those enrolled in NYSOH Marketplace health plans are eligible for financial assistance. Use our MVP plan finder to see what you might qualify for.
