SCHENECTADY, NY, January 31, 2018 — MVP Health Care has been named a Best Company to Work for in New York by New York State SHRM, the Society for Human Resources Managers.
A thorough assessment of an eligible company is conducted with information provided by both the company and its employees through confidential survey tools. The information collected is combined to produce a detailed set of data that enables analysts to determine the strengths and opportunities of participating companies. Workplaces are then ranked based on the data and employee feedback reports are provided to participating companies.
Some of the areas evaluated relate to leadership and planning, corporate culture and communications, role satisfaction, work environment, relationships with supervisors, training and development, pay and benefits, and overall engagement. Additionally, information about company policies, practices, and demographics is collected and assessed.
“When we began to focus on our workplace culture, it was largely because we knew that employees’ connection to and perceptions of ‘MVP the employer’ would be vital to creating a high-performing business,” said Denise Gonick, president and CEO of MVP Health Care. “We incorporated our people, as well as company culture, into our corporate strategy map to ensure they receive dedicated resources and are recognized as the foundation of MVP’s success.” This, along with regular employee satisfaction surveys, focus groups, and teams that evaluate and act on employee feedback, has led to consistent improvement in employees’ opinion of working at MVP Health Care. Added Gonick, “Our culture is an asset that not only helps us attract and retain quality talent, but also strengthens our business performance.”
“MVP Health Care offers performance incentives, special Core Contributor award bonuses to employees who are nominated for going above and beyond, as well as ‘on the spot’ awards for a job well done,” said Lynn Manning, vice president of human resources at MVP Health Care. “Our award-winning employee well-being program is predominantly run by and completely designed around our employees, with everything from fitness classes, to fresh produce deliveries from local farms, to workshops on mindfulness and managing personal finances.”
Additionally, all MVP employees receive a paid day off each year during which they can form their own volunteer teams to help in the community on company time. Employees also participate in walks, runs, and bike rides that benefit a wide variety of not-for-profit organizations. In 2017, MVP employees participated in more than 80 volunteer events that provided more than 3,000 hours of service. “Volunteerism is part of MVP’s mission to build healthier communities,” said Manning. “Being a true part of the communities we serve means getting out there and pitching in, which our employees are happy to do. Community service makes us a better, stronger company.”
The companies selected for this year’s recognition will be honored at a celebration event to be held on April 18 in Albany.
