Rochester, N.Y., September 10, 2019—MVP Health Care and The City of Rochester today announced the grand opening of the MVP Health Care Fitness Court—an outdoor circuit training system that is designed for adults of all ages and fitness abilities. Rochester is the first community in New York State to have a fitness court, making world-class fitness free for all to enjoy.
“At MVP Health Care, we are dedicated to supporting and building the healthiest communities possible,” said MVP Health Care’s chief executive officer, Christopher Del Vecchio. “The new Fitness Court is the perfect example of that pledge and we are so proud and excited to be able to bring the Court to the City of Rochester.”
The MVP Health Care Fitness Court includes 30 pieces of equipment, allowing users of all skill levels to leverage their body weight at different angles and resistance levels to increase mobility and muscular strength. The Fitness Court is integrated with shock-resistant sports flooring and supports functional fitness movements that allows for up to 28 individuals to use the Court at the same time. As part of an effort to encourage a healthy lifestyle throughout the community, the fitness court will be a pillar of exercise in downtown Rochester.
“Our residents are the lifeblood of our community,” said Mayor Lovely A. Warren. “And a healthy city needs healthy citizens to thrive and grow. That’s why this new MVP Health Care Fitness Court is so vitally important. By making exercise free and accessible for all people to improve their physical fitness, we are one step closer to our goal of ensuring that our city has safer and more vibrant neighborhoods, more jobs, and better educational opportunities. I want to thank MVP Health Care and the National Fitness Campaign for their support and generosity, and for making this fitness court a permanent part of Cobb’s Hill Park.”
Fitness Court users can take advantage of a free Fitness Court App, provided by the National Fitness Campaign (NFC), which acts as a how-to guide and a “personal coach in your pocket”. This self-guided mobile support makes it easy for any user to master the Court’s seven movements—core, squat, push, lunge, pull, agility, and bend—at their own pace and level of ability. The iOS and Android apps also feature audio guides, video guides and challenge programs and are constantly updated with the latest and greatest content from NFC. Content is available for both individual and group use on the fitness court.
MVP Health Care and the City of Rochester have assembled a team of local exercise enthusiasts who will act as Fitness Court Ambassadors and will lead classes at the court throughout the year as a way to give back to the community. To find a local fitness ambassador, search #MVPFitCourt on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
The MVP Health Care Fitness Court is located in Cobb’s Hill Park at the corner of Culver Road and Highland Avenue and will be open year-round.
