SCHENECTADY, NY, October 16, 2018–MVP Health Care’s Medicare Advantage Plans have earned a 4.5 Star Rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services for its 2019 Medicare Advantage Plans for the eighth year in a row. CMS, which is a part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, rates Medicare Advantage health plans across the country to provide consumers with an objective way to compare Medicare Advantage plans on overall quality and service.
When rating plans on a scale of 1 to 5 stars, Medicare takes many things into account, such as:
- Member satisfaction with plans and their doctors
- Customer service
- How the plan helps members stay healthy with screenings, tests, wellness programs, and more
- The care members receive for chronic (long-term) health conditions
- Patient safety, such as helping members use recommended and safe prescription medications
This strong ranking marks the eighth consecutive year that MVP’s Medicare Advantage plans have been rated between excellent (five stars) and very Good (four stars) on the CMS scale.
The ratings are a reliable resource for Medicare beneficiaries and their families searching for the best coverage options during the annual enrollment period for 2019 Medicare coverage, which began October 15 and runs through December 7, 2018.
“MVP Health Care has been setting the standard for excellence in Medicare for more than 30 years. All along the way we’ve been designing and refining high-quality Medicare Advantage health plans that provide what members are looking for and expect in comprehensive health care coverage,” said Patrick Glavey, MVP’s executive vice president, Medicare programs. “Our consistently high Star Ratings year after year prove that people can choose their Medicare Advantage coverage confidently with an MVP Medicare Advantage health plan.”
