YONKERS, NY, February 28, 2018 — In 2017, employees in MVP Health Care’s three main offices competed to see which could raise the most funds for the American Heart Association (AHA) Heart Walk in their region. MVP’s Tarrytown office coworkers swept the competition, raising more than $7,000 for the Westchester County AHA chapter.

For the first time, the Westchester AHA had issued a “Children’s Health Challenge” to three organizations–including MVP–to raise at least $2,500 more during the 2017 Heart Walk than they’d raised the previous year. Thanks to the active engagement and generosity of its employees, MVP was the only company that met the challenge. The additional funds were used by the Westchester AHA to purchase a “Move More at Recess” kit for Yonkers School 23.

On Friday, February 16, representatives from MVP participated in school assemblies to present the recess equipment as a surprise to the students.

“MVP Health Care is very happy to have participated in the Westchester Heart Walk, which raised money for many important American Heart Association programs and services–and, especially, to help support schools like yours,” Mark Santiago, vice president, retail outreach, told the children. “A lot of MVP employees joined the Heart Walk to earn money for the Heart Association. We like to find ways to exercise and have fun together, and I bet you do, too!”

Company-wide, a team of 281 participants, including MVP Health Care employees and their family members in Dutchess, Ulster and Westchester counties; Rochester; and the Capital Region raised more than $70,000 in the 2017 AHA Heart Walk.

The contribution was made possible through the MVP Tarrytown office’s fundraising for the 2017 American Heart Walk.
