Bringing health care access to communities is part of MVP’s consumer focused approach driven by the changes and choices available to individuals who are looking to purchase health insurance.
NEWBURGH, NY, January 10, 2018 — On Jan. 10, MVP Health Care unveiled its newly renovated and expanded MVP Walk-In Enrollment Center in Newburgh Mall, where its staff assists consumers who are shopping for health care coverage, have questions about existing plans or are looking to enroll through the New York State of Health marketplace.
“This expanded center is part of MVP’s mission to make access to health care information easier by being more flexible and reaching out to people where they live, work and shop in their communities,” said MVP Vice President of Retail Outreach Mark Santiago.
A growing number of individuals now obtain their health insurance directly through insurers (as opposed to going through an employer or other group). Many MVP members work directly with MVP through health insurance exchanges, such as the New York State of Health Marketplace, and for MVP’s Medicaid, Child Health Plus, and Medicare lines of business. As a result, MVP has expanded its Newburgh retail outlet so that members and non-members can more easily meet and talk with MVP staff and learn about various health care plans.
“This center gives us the opportunity to provide information and enrollment opportunities to non-members, and it also provides existing members with the opportunity to ask questions about their health plans with our knowledgeable staff,” said Santiago. “Being in high-traffic areas such as the mall makes interacting with MVP easier and more convenient for our community members.”
As a part of its retail strategy, MVP has dedicated space in each of its offices — in Newburgh, Rochester, Schenectady, Monticello, Utica, New Rochelle, and Tarrytown, New York and in Burlington, Vermont –for members and those shopping for insurance to visit and talk with MVP professionals and ask questions about their plans.
Working in conjunction with community-based organizations throughout New York State, MVP has nearly 130 locations within the community that provide people with a variety of convenient ways to access MVP. At these locations members can gain information to help them better understand their plans and non-members have the opportunity to learn more and, if interested and eligible, enroll.
