MVP Heath Care, The City of Amsterdam, St. Mary’s Healthcare, United Way of The Greater Capital Region, and CDTA Distributed 1,000 Winter Coats to Kids in Amsterdam
Operation Bundle Up’ Also Provided School Supplies and Gift Cards to Support Children and Families in Need
Amsterdam, NY — November 5, 2022 — MVP Health Care, The City of Amsterdam, St. Mary’s Healthcare, United Way of the Greater Capital Region, and CDTA hosted a free drive-thru coat distribution today for children in need in the City of Amsterdam. The organizations gave out 1,000 new winter coats, school supplies, and gift cards to kids and families in the city.
“Being able to get these warm winter coats to kids in our community who will need them is certainly a wonderful mission! On behalf of all of those kids, I sincerely thank MVP, St. Mary’s Healthcare and the United Way for making this possible,” said the City of Amsterdam Mayor Michael Cinquanti.
The initiative, called ‘Operation Bundle Up’, gave the organizations an opportunity to come together to support the local community and provide coats to kids who might otherwise go without a coat this winter.
“Having a warm winter coat is vital to the health and well-being of a child,” said MVP Health Care President and CEO, Chris Del Vecchio. “Today’s coat drive was an opportunity to support children and families in our community.”
“We know how quickly the weather can turn cold and how important having appropriate warm winter gear is for children in our community,” said Scott Bruce, St. Mary’s Healthcare President and CEO. “We are proud to partner with such great community organizations to help ensure everyone is prepared to face another winter and extend the reach of the St. Mary’s Mission beyond the walls of our hospital and health centers.“
“Families are facing tough decisions with the cost of so many things we need each day on the rise,” said Peter Gannon, CEO of United Way GCR. “We are proud to partner with Mayor Cinquanti and these tremendous organizations on Operation Bundle Up to help families through these difficult times.”
“We are proud to partner with these outstanding community driven organizations that continue to give back to the people we serve,” said Carm Basile, CDTA CEO. “Every kid deserves to have the same opportunity and access to basic winter needs. CDTA recently expanded service into Montgomery County and with that service comes our commitment to the people of Montgomery County.”
