SCHENECTADY, NY, August 7, 2017 — For 42 years, Schenectady has been the home of one of the oldest major 15K road races in the country, and this year on Nov. 12 the MVP Health Care Stockade-athon 15K will include a new feature — The MVP Stockade Cup, a business-based relay for teams of three men or three women with each team member running one 5K leg. One male and one female team with the lowest combined times will win The MVP Stockade Cup.
Limited to business teams, The Stockade Cup is open to teams of three full-time employees of the same business. A business may enter up to six teams, and the competition is limited to 100 teams.
“The Stockade-athon is a highlight of the fall running season as it brings thousands to Schenectady to compete, volunteer, and support runners of all ages as they race through downtown Schenectady and several of the city’s most historic areas,” said Denise Gonick, MVP Health Care’s president and CEO. “With the addition of the friendly competition among businesses that field a relay team for The Stockade Cup, this year’s event should be even better than ever. MVP Health Care is proud to sponsor this annual race, which celebrates fitness and good health.”
The MVP Health Care Stockade-athon is a premier event of the Hudson Mohawk Road Runners Club. In addition to MVP Health Care, other race sponsors include Fleet Feet Sports, the Gazette and the Schenectady YMCA.
Details on how to register can be found at www.stockadeathon.com. Later in the summer, information about how to volunteer for the event will be posted.
