While opioid medications may help with pain management, they have significant risks, especially when used for a long time. Opioid medications can also be dangerous at high doses.

The health and safety of our Members are always a top priority. MVP encourages Providers who are prescribing these medications to regularly review risk of prolonged opioid use as well as potential alternative treatments with your patients. MVP also encourages the use of Naloxone when appropriate. For more information on covered services, your patients should call the MVP Customer Care Center number on the back of their MVP ID card.
