Schenectady, NY  — June 1, 2021 —

MVP Health Care and the City of Rochester today announced the re-launch of the MVP Health Care Fitness Court with a day-long “fitness palooza” that includes FREE workout and yoga classes at the court on June 2, 2021. The MVP Fitness Court at Cobbs Hill Park, is a first-of-its-kind outdoor community fitness destination that allows the Rochester community to workout with state-of-the-art equipment while enjoying the park atmosphere.

“The pandemic has transformed our lives in countless ways and had far-reaching effects on the mental and physical health of people throughout our community,” says MVP Health Care’s President and CEO, Christopher Del Vecchio. “At MVP Health Care, we continuously work to provide new and different ways to support families and individuals in our communities so that they can prioritize and invest in their health and wellness. We are excited to safely re-launch the court by offering free exercise classes that will bring together the Rochester community after a year that kept us all apart. We look forward to seeing you there.”

The free workout classes at the MVP Fitness Court on Wednesday, June 2nd will be at 12:00 p.m., 3:00 p.m., and 4:00 p.m. The classes will offer a total body workout of strength training, cardio and core exercises and will be led by MVP Health Care Fitness Court Ambassadors. The ROCnFree community fitness and yoga series, sponsored by MVP Health Care and led by MVP Fitness Court Ambassador, Molly Flaherty, will be on June 2nd from 5:30-6:15 p.m. at the MVP Health Care Fitness Court. These yoga classes will continue at the court every Wednesday through September 1. ROCnFree yoga classes will also be held at Parcel 5 every Monday and Friday at noon.

“Access to quality fitness and wellness should be available to everyone in the Rochester community,” said Molly Flaherty, Owner of M/Body Fitness and MVP Health Care Fitness Court Ambassador. “ROCnFree is a social, inclusive fitness community that provides free and consistent access to quality fitness, wellness, and an overall active lifestyle in the Rochester community. We look forward to being your motivational boost to help create a healthy lifestyle with supporters that will help you achieve it.”

“A healthy city needs healthy residents to thrive” said Mayor Lovely A. Warren. “As we emerge from a pandemic, I urge our citizens to prioritize their physical and mental health this summer by taking advantage of these free classes and the Fitness Court. I am so thankful for MVP Healthcare’s partnership in supporting our community by providing free and accessible exercise options for all”.

The MVP Health Care Fitness Court includes 30 pieces of equipment, allowing users of all skill levels to leverage their body weight at different angles and resistance levels to increase mobility and muscular strength. The Fitness Court is integrated with shock-resistant sports flooring and supports functional fitness movements that allow for up to 28 individuals to use the Court at the same time. As part of an effort to encourage a healthy lifestyle throughout the community, the fitness court will be a pillar of exercise in downtown Rochester.

MVP Health Care Fitness Court users can take advantage of a free Fitness Court App, provided by the National Fitness Campaign (NFC), which acts as a how-to guide and a “personal coach in your pocket.” This self-guided mobile support makes it easy for any user to master the Court’s seven movements—core, squat, push, lunge, pull, agility, and bend—at their own pace and level of ability. The iOS and Android apps also feature audio guides, video guides and challenge programs and are constantly updated with the latest and greatest content from NFC. Content is available for both individual and group use on the fitness court.
