Programs to Help You Cover the Cost of Medications
At MVP, we want to ensure you get the medications you need to get or stay healthy. You may qualify for help in paying for drug costs through:
- Medicare’s Low Income Subsidy (LIS or “Extra Help”)
- EPIC/VPharm
- Programs through the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)
Medicare Low Income Subsidy (LIS or Extra Help)
You may qualify for extra help if you’re eligible for Medicare and meet specific income and resource requirements.
To see if you qualify, call:
- Medicare at 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227), 24 hours a day (TTY 1-877-486-2048)
- The Social Security Administration Office at 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778)
- Your state Medicaid office
If you have both Medicare and Medicaid, you qualify for Extra Help.
We follow Medicare’s Best Available Evidence (BAE) policy to determine your eligibility for Extra Help paying for your prescription drug costs. For more information on BAE, visit the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) website.
State Pharmaceutical Assistance Programs (EPIC/VPharm)
You may be eligible for help paying for drug coverage from your state. State programs may help you with the costs of your prescription drugs and your plan premium.
To qualify, you must:
- Be eligible for, or already enrolled in, Medicare Part D
- Live in New York State (for EPIC) or in Vermont (for VPharm)
- Meet age requirements
- Meet income requirements

Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Coverage
VA benefits can work together with your MVP Medicare Advantage plan. If you qualify for prescription drug benefits through the VA, you may be able to save money on your prescriptions. Call your local VA for more information.
Other physicians/providers are available in the MVP Health Care network. MVP virtual care services through Gia are available at no cost-share for most members. In-person visits and referrals are subject to cost-share per plan. Members enrolled in a Medicare Rx plan without additional MVP medical coverage do not have access to MVP virtual care services through Gia.
