Understanding MVP’s Dual Special Needs Plan

On January 1, 2022, MVP launched a new Dual Special Needs Program (D-SNP) benefit plan to serve individuals who are dually eligible for Medicare and Medicaid in the Capital District (Albany, Columbia, Greene, Rensselaer, Saratoga, and Schenectady counties), and the Hudson Valley (Dutchess, Orange, Putnam, Rockland, Sullivan, Ulster, and Westchester counties). In January 2023, Monroe County was added to our service area.

Special Needs Plans are a type of Medicare Advantage benefit plan that offers intensive care coordination for individuals with special needs. Our D-SNP benefit plan is known as the DualAccess plan.

On July 1, 2023, MVP added the new MVP DualAccess Complete (HMO D-SNP) plan with integrated benefits for dually eligible enrollees (IB-Dual). IB-Dual is a D-SNP that offers Medicare Advantage and Managed Medicaid benefits with the same carrier.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) require Providers who care for patients in D-SNP plans to complete an annual training. The training below is self-directed, but MVP Professional Relations representatives will be happy to assist or answer any questions.

Please ensure all Providers in your group have completed this training, then submit the form below. Upon submitting this form, the authorized representative will have attested that all Providers within the practice have completed the D-SNP training, and that all those who join in 2024 will complete the training.

Vendors may complete the training here.
